Tackle it Tuesday is BACK!

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

I'm posting this now so that I will be sure to come back and post an "after" picture. This counter is a big pain in my neck! It collects everything--I mean really could I even fit one more thing on it without it ALL falling off? I think not.

This tiny counter is right beside my oven, so I'm sure I'm posing some sort of serious fire hazard. Enough is enough!

Last year I purchased a file folder holder and labeled the folders--coupons, medical, needs to be filed, belongs to someone else, etc. This has taken care of the stacking of paper that I am so guilty of doing. However the files are bulging and I HAVE to file and purge.

The rest of the stuff, I'm not exactly sure where it goes. Hopefully the trash can/recycle can will receive a good bit of it. I will be back this evening to post an "after" picture be sure to tune in.

I'm going to wait until then to link myself to 5 Minutes for Mom, but you can head on over there and check out the other tackles. Just be sure to come back. I need constant affirmation.

UPDATE: so I'm back, yes it's after 9 p.m. but I'm back and that's what counts. I cleaned with the trash can by my side and I was ruthless! I do have one confession though, I did NOT go through all the file folders. I went through a couple, but will work my way through the others this week. It was too overwhelming. I had papers and piles everywhere. I had to stop before I'd be into tomorrow trying to clear away the piles.

So, now I'm semi-motivated to take care of other piles here and there. I think I must have been just stacking instead of putting stuff away for...well, maybe most of the winter. That's all behind me now and I'm moving forward. not tonight, though.

And the winner is....

Congratulations to Birdie and Jenibean for being the grand winners in this 100th POST party giveaway!! I told you that I was going to make Birdie the WINNER because she was the first to post a comment (first by a couple days), then only after I begged, did some more of you join the fun. Jenibean was chosen by a random drawing of all the names put into a hat. Marissa did the drawing. So, ladies, email me your addresses and I'll be getting those out to you soon.

Thank you for those who commented; it is fun to see who is out there. And Kristine, I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the comment from you. Marissa said you deserve a dishcloth just for commenting the first time ever! :) Sorry, you'll have to wait for Christmas or your birthday.

My Tuesday Tackles are
  • trying to get packed for our trip across a couple states
    • the girls each get a small suitcase and a bookbag for their goodies.
    • Baby boy will share a suitcase with me, then his diaper bag, my book and project bag
    • Toiletries bag
  • finishing laundry so I can get packed for trip and so hunny has everything he needs (he will be joining us on the weekend and drive back with us)
  • my other tackles (cleaning the air filter cover, cleaning baby boy's fan, etc.) will have to wait until after visiting family due to the downpouring rain. I am thankful for the rain!!

Revisiting my tackles

Today I'm determined to visit my previous tackles and tidy them up. I've sort of lost my grip on the house and the piles are starting. I heard that collective ---gasp--- and I know you're thinking that I said I would only handle a piece of paper ONCE. (For the incriminating evidence, take notice of "Habits/Changes I've put in place to maintain this organization" and "The biggest lesson I learned in this challenge". ) Oh, the tangled web we weave, when the stuff we start to leave!!

To tidy:
school room
linen closet
top of dryer, counter beside stove, dry sink
windows--I got them done last week, but I think just for fun, I'll go over them again. Should be easier this time, since there isn't months of handprints, dog prints, etc. caked on. Marissa exclaimed that the back sliding glass door looked like you could walk right through it. :)

There will not be any pictures due to the fact that our camera has a minor malfunction at the moment. I am hoping that it is momentary, we'll see.

So off to do a little crisis intervention. Visit www.5minutesformom.com for more tackles.

My tackle this Tuesday is my windows! I didn't do them last week, or the week before or before... They need it badly!!

I also did some mending that has been in a "to do" pile. :)

That's all for today. Visit 5MinutesforMom for more tackles. AND, don't miss entering the great giveaways at their site. Check it out!

I'm tackling my Tuesday!

The last couple of Tuesdays have pretty much tackled me despite my best laid plans. However today, I'm getting things accomplished.

On my list today:
  • brown ground beef for freezer meals *done!
  • cook chicken for freezer meals *done!
  • wash the front window and back sliding glass door >>nope
  • scrapbook our spring break pictures *started

My goal is to complete these by bedtime....and hopefully to go to bed at a decent time. :)
Have a good day, and for more Tackle it Tuesdays visit 5 Minutes for mom.

Tackle it Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

My tackle today is more of a bunch of tackles. I've needed to clean off the top of the dryer for umm, weeks now. Today is the day!

Also I have several stacks of stuff I haven't put away. For those who have been reading my blog for very long you'll know that I've been organizing my house like a crazy person. So, I'm determined today to take care of some stacks that have creeped and crawled right up on me.

Lastly, I am going to work on homeschool plans for my soon-to-be kindergartener. I've found a few things that I have printed off and read and I've made a list of books I'd like to borrow from the library. Today, I'm going to organize these lists and resources in a file folder, cleverly labeled "Kindergarten".

So, thank you, friends and readers for listening to my Tackle It Tuesday plan. This evening I'll post an update showing pictures of the completed tackles. I'd better get moving!!

Grand Update:

I finished cleaning off the dryer, BUT I forgot to take a before picture. I dug right in and put things away and threw things away! Having this done, I whipped right into the bathroom and cleaned it AND the half bath in our room. Big smiles!

I put 3 stacks of stuff away. One stack in the dry sink, one stack on a chair in the corner of the kitchen and one stack on the counter beside the oven. They were not that big, and therefore not too difficult to put away. I also dusted the living room and Marissa cleaned up the toys.

Now I'm in the process of filing things for kindergarten. I will do more after the girls go to bed. Okay, because we have dial-up, the pictures take a loooonnnggg time to load. So, I'm going to bed now. I've been working a little bit on kindergarten plans. I'll hopefully share more about that during this week.

I'm really enjoying Tackle it Tuesday. It gives me freedom to clean one area and leave the others until another time...like next Tuesday. :) And clean counters and floors help me stay motivated to keep them clean.
