Our family had a wonderful few days at a lake a couple hours from here. We stayed in a cabin complete with fireplace and full kitchen. Each day we hiked a trail, with our oldest daughter as our fearless leader. She warned us of mud slides, protruding rocks and branches, and helped her sister navigate the trails.
Little sister was the adventurer and investigator. She delighted in checking in fallen logs and holes in the trees. Finding many treasures, I had to remind her that we needed to leave the forest where we found it.
Enjoying the view from a pack on daddy's back, the little boy took generous water breaks (it's hard work riding the trail, you know). He pointed at objects and tried to mimick the sounds of the birds.
The trip was relaxing and we had a great time being together.
